GAuth Authenticator

A Secure and Convenient Chrome Extension for Multi-Factor Authentication

Introduction

Are you concerned about the security of your online accounts? Looking for a reliable and user-friendly way to implement multi-factor authentication? Look no further! This Chrome extension is here to safeguard your valuable information and provide you with peace of mind.

How It Works

This Chrome extension generates Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) tokens, based on the RFC4226 standard, when multi-factor authentication is used with your Google account. It has been extensively tested and proven to work seamlessly with popular services such as Google Authenticator, Dropbox, Dreamhost, and Amazon.

Enhancing Security

By using this Chrome extension, you not only secure your Gmail account but also reinforce the security of your SSH connections. Follow the instructions provided at security/two-factor-ssh-with-google-authenticator.html">this link to set up two-factor SSH authentication.

Easy Setup and Usage

Getting started is a breeze! Simply enter the secret provided by the service, along with an account name to help you remember it. The extension generates a unique 6-character key that you'll need to enter when prompted. Ensure that the time on your device is synchronized, as a minute's discrepancy could result in login failures.

Important Tips

- If you're using Google, avoid using application-specific passwords for generating responses. They are not intended for this purpose.

- Before leaving a review in the store, please reach out to us directly with any issues or concerns. You can contact us by sending a report email or visiting our support page. Details can be found in the about dialog or on our support page.

Your Security, Your Control

Your data privacy is of utmost importance to us. We do not transmit any data. All token secrets are securely stored locally in your browser's localStorage. For added convenience, you can also access an online version of the extension at this link.

Community-Driven and Supportive

This Chrome extension is a community-created application and is not affiliated with Google. We believe in open-source software, and the source code for this extension is available on GitHub. We welcome your ideas and feedback to make this software even better. If you find this extension useful, please consider making a donation to support its development and maintenance.

Cannot import anything. No scanning support. Pointless

No documentation. No syncing, so can't import my existing 2FAs. Appears to only be useful if setting up a new 2FA - given I've already put all my 'at risk' accounts onto 2FA, makes this useless.

As soon as I installed this extension my inbox began being flooded with spam, it would seem the author is selling your email address and potentially other data.

It works for a while but the timer gets out of sync over a very short time and you have to enter the code at the beginning of the 30 second count down for it to work.

Idk why there are so many negative or comments like it's not working, etc. can't say those are bot comments either but it worked perfectly for me on my 1st try you can give it a try bcos it's just a 250 KB extension and most probably it'll work for you as well :)

I love this app easy to use. When I consider how important 2Fa is to my information security, I have backed up my recovery codes in three different email accounts along with storing it at a safe place at my home. it is possible to recover your Authenticator.
